MARCH GIFT GUIDE

March is the third month of the year in the Gregorian calendar and the first month of the ancient Roman calendar. In the Northern Hemisphere the first day of March marks the beginning of Spring and the March equinox marks the beginning of the astrological year. March is named after the Roman God of war, Mars, who was also regarded as a guardian of agriculture.

In the neopagan Wheel of the Year, 21st March is the festival of Ostara in the Northern Hemisphere. Ostara marks the time of the Spring Equinox when day and night are equal in length. As the days grow longer this is a time of passing and transition. It is powerful time of balance and thus a time of magic, fertility and new life.
