Symbolism & Meaning
The Hamsa is an ancient talisman worn to avert the evil eye. The amulet is a hand with five digits symbolising the Creator's protective hand. In Judaism the 5 digits represent the 5 chapters of the Torah and is known as the Hand of Miriam in reference to the sister of Moses and Aaron. In Islam the five digits represent the Five Pillars of Islam and is known as the Hand of Fatima, commemorating Fatima Zahra the daughter of the prophet Muhammad.
